I was way to tired last night to talk about my evening and now after the news I received this morning I’m kind of glad I didn’t because it will make this entry so much more interesting.

I had [livejournal.com profile] mkiero over for a little bit yesterday before she ditched me for her porcelain friend and I spent a little time online after that but was really really bored and rather lonely. No one seems to care about little old me out here. :: pout ::

So! Then June, one of my coworkers called and said that it was her clubs last square dance of the season and asked if I wanted to go. I like hanging out with June (she’s around the age of my father), her husband Duane, and her son Robert so I said sure I’d go. It was set to start at 8pm so I killed some time by taking a walk and typing up a bit more of my novel.

Got to church, her square dance club meets at the same church we go to for service which is convenient cause then I knew where it was and couldn’t’ get lost. And I watched them square dance while I talked with an elderly woman I met at a barn dance not to long ago. I love to barn dance. Just thought you’d like to know. :: grins ::

Anyway! Spent my evening watching, talking, flirting with Robert (he’s going to be 29 in August) and eating yummy strawberries dipped in chocolate, never had those before. At 10:30pm the dance ended and mostly everyone left while I helped June and crew pick up the goodies and put things away where they belonged then we had to set up for the churches spaghetti dinner that they were having to raise money for the missionary team headed to Scotland. My back still hurts from picking up all those chairs.

Anyway… One of the tasks of shutting down the square dance is to go through the entire church and make sure that the doors are all locked and that there aren’t any homeless people sleeping in any of the pews or anywhere else. Robert and I did this and I’ve got to admit it kind of crept me out walking around the church in the dark like that and at one point Robert put his arm around me and said he’d protect me. Though later on he said the only thing in the dark that was going to get me was him… When asked what he’d do with me he didn’t have a response.

I know for a fact that we checked every door. We got home (I live like five miles from June) just shy of midnight which means we left the church at about 11:30am roughly. Sometime between midnight and 7am some low life actually robbed the church. I’m not kidding.

June and Duane are in the choir so the go a little earlier than me because they have to get ready, Robert is there earlier as well because he helps to run the sound equipment. When I got there at 9:10am I was sitting in the pew when Robert appeared out of nowhere, scarring me, and asking what time his mom had called me last night, I checked the phone and saw that it was 11:59am and then he thanked me and wandered back to the sound booth.

I didn’t think anything of it until June told me that someone broke into the church after we left and I was speechless because I never figured someone would actually break into a church. The Pastor informed us that a few windows, including the one in the office door, were broken and that $100 were taken before asking us to pray for the people that did and hope that they turn themselves in.

After the service June showed me the broken window in the office then took me downstairs to the VBS (vacation Bible study) room to show me the broken window that was ground level, which was how the person(s) got in. There was mud everywhere…on the sill, on the table below the sill, all over the carpets leading in a couple different directions. It was really scary.

Duane has a theory that it was someone who knows what goes on in the church because if you follow the footprints they lead to places where money would be. They even damaged the vending machine to try and get money out. We know it happened after we left because not only would Robert and I have noticed the mud, but we would have also noticed the broken windows.

It just really scares me, for a couple of reasons actually. Because we were the last ones there as I’ve said and my over active imagination is thinking… Oh my gosh! What if they were watching us as we left?
