Cough Syrup Induced Dreams

I hate it when I write depressing entries that other people might read…I never quite know where to start.
:: sigh ::
On Saturday morning I woke up with an itchy red eye that was glued shut, sore throat, and a runny nose. I’ve had pink-eye before so I know how it felt but I also knew that there wasn’t any case of it going around the center so it was doubtful that I had come in contact with it and since it seemed to clear up during the day I figured I was in the clear so I was more then happy when Tom and I finally made it to the Groat’s and I got to see Aaron and my other friends… Actually I was rather ecstatic.
It was during the evening however that my eye got rather itchy, watery, and gunk was getting on my glasses. I was embarrassed actually because I was worried that…well that Aaron wouldn't want to be anywhere near me if I admitted to everyone my eye was bothering me. But eventually Jim looked at it and determined that I did indeed have pink-eye and he called up his wife to find drops that they had used for their son. I’m glad they did have them even if it was embarrassing because they helped to clear my eye up some, even if I really couldn’t see out of it the rest of the night (this was not mentioned to the rest of the group because I don’t like to make others worry or cause them to fuss about me).
It was a bit difficult to fall asleep that night because my body kept wanting to cough up who knows what and once again with Aaron in the other room (even behind a closed door) I was embarrassed about disgusting him, since my coughs are really rather rough and nasty sounding. Even on the car ride home Ash asked several times if I was alright and even patted me on the back once or twice, probably thought I was choking or my drink had gone down the wrong tube or something.
I realized two things when I went to bed last night. First, I’m worrying way to much about impressing Aaron (and other people) if he likes me, he’ll like me. At least I’ve realized this now…getting myself to actually 100% believe it…well that’s another story. Second, I knew I had bronchitis again.
I had to be honest about the pink-eye at work since I don’t want to put any of the kids at risk and I explained to Tonya that I’d had two doses of the medication. They needed me for a few hours so I stuck around and got to spend time with the toddlers and two-year-olds which was rather enjoyable. Then I got pulled into the office to stuff envelopes with Christmas cards, seal them, and then put return address labels on them, during which I missed lunch and my boss was ever so nice to enjoy lunch in front of me. So sweet no?
It was around 3:30pm that they were getting tired of hearing my cough all over the center and decided that I ought to go home and see the doctor, in other words they didn’t want to share my germs and I can't really blame them. So I made a 5pm appointment, convinced Dad to drive me home (since I don’t have a car at the moment he’s having to drive me to work and back home, luckily we both work at Argonne) and made it by the skin of my teeth.
The verdict. I do in fact have bronchitis. However it is much more severe than I originally thought and it could quite possibly turn into pneumonia. I haven’t had to deal with that since I had my tonsils removed; I don’t want it again. In high school it seemed that I always had bronchitis, at lest three times a year, and it always became pneumonia. That stopped after my tonsils were removed and I was getting used to just having bronchitis twice a year. Tis like clockwork it is. Anyway…I also have pink-eye, however it’s the kind of pink-eye that comes from having a cold or a lot of drainage so it’s not as bad as the highly contagious kind (your in the clear Wisconsin people and Ash!)
Now here’s the bad news and stop rolling your eyes cause I’m in a really crappy mood right now and exhausted from crying and coughing so I’m going to post it anyway! :P I am highly contagious, at lest the bronchitis, and apparently quite sick (though to be honest I don’t feel that sick) and Jullya has decided, after contacting her daughters, Corutney, at home nurse care and one of Courtney’s doctors that they (their family, but mostly Court) can not be around me. Which means that I can not go on the Kalahari trip. I am royally ticked.
The trip was originally planned for November and we were going to spend Thanksgiving there. I had to beg work to let me have the time off. Then Courtney got sick and Jullya (whose the kind of woman who likes to do trips without much planning, something I can’t do at all) decided to move the dates to the 22nd and the 23rd of December. Dad kept trying to tell me that the Lab’s closed then so no one will be bringing their children into the center. Well they are! Argonne is filled with workaholics! We have sign up sheets for the holidays and the only days I was guaranteed off was the 24th and the 31st. I almost had to resort to the puppy dog face to convince Gayle to give me the days for the trip off. And now I’m not allowed to go. Dad is still going, Jullya and the kids are still going. But not me. I’m stuck home alone, with no car, no friends, and hardly any food.
Shit.
