Attack of the dusty gerbil!
Apr. 15th, 2005 09:33 pmHakkai got out of the cage, which mind you is sitting on a coffee table the little daredevil… Have you ever tried getting a gerbil out floor vents? I’ve had my fill of excitement for the day. :: chuckles :: When I saw her dart out from under my video cabinet to hide under the coffee table I thought at first it was a mouse. Then! I noticed that stupid me didn’t put the lid back on after I gave them their bowl of dust so they could have a bath. I’m a dork.
Anyway I’ve got a major busy Saturday ahead of me. There’s an Infant/Toddler conference I have to be at by 8am and it’s about an hour drive from my apartment. It goes until 1pm and there are to different sessions with a lunch break in between I believe. My first session will be filled with hands on activities and is all about different kinds of messes to help stimulate creativity and provide a sensory experience. While I’ve actually become rather anal about keeping a clean classroom (to the best of my abilities that is with a bunch of babies crawling around and dumping stuff) I’ve never been afraid of getting messy with soil for planting or in an art project so I’m looking forward to this session. Hopefully there will be some interesting concoctions that the older infants can help create in the classroom and can also be shared in the sensory table. They are really getting tired of sand, oatmeal, and uncooked noodles. Water is always a big hit though.
The next session is taking care of the caregiver and just like it sounds it’s all about taking care of yourself while your pushing your body and being around so many different germs (like that one child who had the hives and rotavirus, his parents brought him back today and I had to send him home with a 103.0 fever…the parents still insist that he’s fine. Oii…) Anyway I have weak lungs and suffer from nasty bronchitis and pneumonia on a regular basis, plus the asthma. Add in my RSD and migraines and you have a bucket full of junk to deal with. So I’d like to learn a few ways to better take care of myself at work to prevent any future problems or illnesses, aside from the whole bending at the knees thing and not picking up a child who weighs over 42lbs which happens to be the max at which were supposed to lift.
After that I’ve got a birthday party to go to for Lori, she’s turning one tomorrow! No one else at work can make it but I’m really attached to the cutie so I’m going. Besides it’s only a few minutes from me so it’s right nearby. I just feel bad that I don’t have enough money to buy her anything. Her mom, the schools Kindergarten teacher said they will have fifty people so I don’t feel too bad. I’m just gonna give her lots of hugs and kisses and spoil her rotten with attention.
Then! It’s off to Jen’s at some point in time for a Bachelorette party. I’ve never been to one and don’t really know what happens…except for the ones on TV. Going to a strip club has been suggested but I have the feeling I’ll wind up being the designated driver since I don’t really drink. I’ve had maybe four or five drinks my entire life? Never been drunk, tipsy, or anything like that…
Finally it’s back home to put away laundry and sleep for a few hours till I get to go to Dad’s and help him with the gardening. Some how I plan to prevent him from putting Impatiens in the sun again…they need shade! He killed ‘em all last time.
:: yawn ::
I think it’s time for bed… Hope y’all have a great weekend!

Crazed Huffle
Apr. 15th, 2005 11:13 pmMan I should be in bed...but I'm being stupid and am still up. If mom was still around she would have made me go to bed hours ago. I'm so gonna pay for this tomorrow.
On Thursday I remarked to a parent that I had once dyed my hair purple, granted it was a mistake, but it still happened. What was his response? :: chuckles :: He said "You wild Hufflepuffs!"
Also... I want to buy this... Damm you work! Give me more hours! I need money!
