Shoes and CD's
May. 24th, 2005 12:25 amWoot! It’s the first day of Teacher Appreciation week at work; it never fails to make me feel so special! And not because we get an interesting gift each day but because someone actually appreciates the hard work that we do there! You wouldn’t believe the number of people who think it’s so easy to work in a childcare center. Oii… So anyway today’s gift was nesting dolls from the USSR (at lest that is what is stamped on the bottom of the largest doll), no one knows what the theme of the week is (each year the parents choose a new theme, last year it was a day at the beach) but the rumor is that it has something do to with things from around the world.
My shoelace broke after work today when I was putting my shoes back on (we can’t wear them in the infant rooms unless we buy shoes particularly for that room) this evening, it’s the second shoelace I’ve gone through on these danged shoes! Their Skechers, size 6.5 which always causes people to comment on how small my feet are. The shoes are about a year old and one of them has already lost all the padding in the heel because it was all bunched up and giving me a blister so Dad went and cut it open and took out the clumps…now the plastic is giving me blisters. Plus part of the shoe is pulling away from the sole.
So this ment I had to go shoe shopping. :: sighs :: I went to Khols first and didn’t really like the selection but they were having a sale so I picked up a pair of white, silver, and metallic turquoise shoes (http://shop.skechers.com/shop/productimages/largeImages/11056_WSLK.jpg) for $51 and some change. I was not a happy camper when I left the store…there was this uncomfortable feeling in the pit of my stomach. So I hit Target in the hopes of finding something cheaper and that I liked more. No luck.
Due to past shoe shopping experiences I was very tempted just to give up and stick with the shoes I didn’t like. See I hate shoe shopping… I will never find a shoe that fits properly unless it is costume made for each foot because I’ve got way to many problems with my feet. They are two different sizes, they are wide, they have constant swelling, I’ve got a normal heal, a high instep, and almost no arch. Lets just say that when my Mom had to take me shoe shopping it wasn’t pretty.
But anyway my Dad was insisting that I try Famous Footwear and since they were in the same shopping complex I did and low and behold what did I find? Not only did I find a better selection but I also found lower prices! I tried on a black and pink gym shoe first and then once it was on my feet I stared down at it thinking… ”Why am I trying this on? I only own two pink items of clothing and I don’t even like pink!” so that one went back rather quickly. I saw one that was white with orange accents. Then there were the boots that went up to my thighs that I couldn’t even get my foot in…though they looked really cool. Then I tried on a pair of black and silver ones that were cute but just didn’t work.
Then! I found out that Skechers makes boots! Oh these boots (they look 99% like this one with some very minor changes http://shop.skechers.com/shop/productimages/largeImages/2930_BLK.jpg) are so cute! They are black and go a little bit past my ankle. They hurt my right ankle just a little so I’m wearing them around the apartment to see if they loosen up, they are slightly loose in other areas but I bought a 6.5 which is what I always buy for this brand so I’m hoping it’s just the type of shoe. If they still don’t feel good in a few days I’ll take them back and pick up a pair of gym shoes that will last me a year. But I really like these boots! I haven’t liked a pair of shoes this much since my Mom let me get L.A. Lights when I was in Jr High! You know the kind with the lights in the back?
So with the boots and a new pair of black shoelaces for the old shoes I spent $20 less than I did on the other shoes so they went back to the store. I really amussed the woman at Famous Footwear though because I told her I really only own two pairs of shoes. Gym shoes and a pair of dressy sandles. She asked me how was that possible and ya know the answer is simple. I’m not a girly girl. I hate clothes shopping, I hate shoe shopping, I hate looking for make-up (except for lip gloss and nail polish) and I especially hate looking for frilly undergarments. I’m the kind of girl who will grab the right size at Wally World and head off home. Drove my Mom nuts with that…I think I still drive Mkiero nuts with it.
But anyway I’m rambling. I’m off to play with my new CD I just burned. It’s a combination Aikawa Nanase, w-inds, B’z (the song Blowin), Core of Soul, It’s Love from Rabbit, and the Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra doing Sesame Street. Thank you so much Mippa for providing me with a lot of these songs! Now I wish my drive to work was a little bit longer… Must go make a FinKL CD…
